BEIJING (Sept. 12) XINHUA - The State Forestry Administration (SFA)
today asked for greater attention to preventing forest fires in
autumn.
According to analysis from meteorological departments, the
temperatures in north and northeast China this autumn are higher than
usual, and the heavy wind and dry weather will add to the danger of
forest fires.
During a recent meeting, SFA urged related departments of forest
areas in seven provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions
nationwide to intensify fire prevention efforts and improve fire-
fighting capabilities.
The administration stressed the need to control combustible materials
and prohibit field burning. Those violating the regulations will face
severe punishment.
