The Federal Police are going to expel loggers extracting mahogany illegally from the Kayapo Indian Reservation near Sao Félix do Xingu, in Pará. Operation Xingu was initiated yesterday, and will employ the aid of the Army, the National Indian Foundation (FUNAI) and the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA). The operation will be conducted throughout the Amazon, using Sao Félix do Xingu as a starting point, and is part of the federal government's National Security Plan.
