The operation "Stay Legal Amazon" has demonstrated its effectiveness in Acre, with a reduction by 50% of the rates of deforestation and fires in the first six months, and with inadequate funding. The operation was created more than two years ago but only arrived in Acre this year. The objective was to reduce deforestation and fire rates by 30%, but thanks to the effective implementation of the program, and several other factors, the goal was exceeded. Other contributing factors include the increase of the percentage of preserved land to 80% and the early arrival of seasonal rains.
