The increasing number of fires started for agricultural purposes has led the NGO Friends of the Earth to initiate the protocol Fire: Chronic Emergency, which was signed last Thursday in Marab , Par , by small farmers and ranchers from the south of the state. The farmers use fire to make their lives easier, but they often get out of control, causing serious damage to nearby forests, as well as roads and aerial routes. Friends of the Earth's goal is not to stop farmers from using fire, but to help them to conduct their burns in a sensible, controlled manner.
