Note: For anyone unfamilar with this long term forest battle, Clayoquot
Sound is an area of pristine temperate rainforest in British Columbia.
We have tried every possible legal means to avoid a blockade but
Interfor smuggly insists that regardless of the ecological issues we
have brought forward they have the permits to log.
We have stood at the foot of 800 year old trees which they plan to log
on extremely steep (70%) slopes.
This is the beginning of a plan to log 52 cutblocks in Clayoquot Sound
IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS (and they can add more at any time within those five
years).
WE ARE ATTEMPTING LAST MINUTE NEGOTIATIONS BUT IF ALL ELSE FAILS WE WILL
BE STANDING ON THE ROAD IN DETERMINED NON-VIOLENT PROTEST.
Logging and road building is planned to begin by the end of the first
week of August. We will send you an email to inform you when protests
begin and asking for your help in spreading the word to those who stand
opposed to industrial logging in Clayoquot Sound.
Many thanks for your support,
Friends of Clayoquot Sound
