MOSAIC Oil NL has re-entered the Glen Fosslyn No 1 well and perforated a deep zone never previously tested, according to its chief executive officer, Dr Howard Brady.

Dr Brady said Glen Fosslyn No 1 is located in the Surat Basin of Central Queensland and was drilled on a structure of approximately one square kilometre.

He said a three-metre zone of an interpreted 15-metre hydrocarbon section was perforated.

The intervals perforated were 2088.79 metres to 2090.62 metres and 2099.16 metres to 2100.38 metres, he said.

He said the zone immediately flowed oil into the well casing. Pumping was undertaken and 120 barrels of oil and no water were produced in one day without any significant change in oil levels. No estimate of reserves is possible at this stage.

A pump will be installed as quickly as possible to place this zone on production, he added.

Meanwhile drilling operation at Pembroke 1 is at 1,476.5 metres.

Hydrocarbon shows occurred in the interval 1474.5 - 1476.5 metres which is the top of the main target section.

Dr Brady said Drill Stem Test No 1 over the interval failed for mechanical reasons and Drill Stem test No 2 over 1455.33 - 1476.5 metres was run late on Wednesday and recovered 24 barrels of mud an formation water.

The rest of the section, about 50 metres, will now be drilled.

He said Mosaic has 85 per cent interest in the project with Santos holding the remaining 15 per cent. Error: Unable to read footer file.
