The Forest Products Commission in Western Australia is assessing more than 40 bids for jarrah sawlogs under the new 10-year forest management plan.

The new plan comes into effect in 2004.

There will be 140,000 cubic metres of jarrah per year, about half of what was to be allocated under the former Coalition government.

The commission's general manager, Paul Biggs, says the bids for jarrah will be assessed against their contribution to high-value production, employment and maximum use of timber. Error: Unable to read footer file.
