MADISON,
WI - March 4, 2000 - Ecological Enterprises, Inc. has
publicly
unveiled their new climate change news and information
source,
entitled "Climate Ark", at http://www.ClimateArk.org/ . The
site is
a first of its kind climate change search engine. Those
interested
in climate change research and activist activities can
carry
out full text searches through an extensive list of reviewed
internet
content. Climate Ark searches allow you
to explore the
entire
content of hundreds of different environmental sites, including
Climate
Ark's own archive of non-durable Internet information relating
to
Climate Change, at the same time.
Sites
have carefully been chosen for inclusion.
Each of the climate
change
sites indexed was chosen based on their usefulness to citizen
environmentalists. Rather than getting millions of hits of
various
worth
and quality when you search on a major search engine, the
Climate
Ark search results provide thousands of highly pertinent hits-
-the
best that the internet has to offer on the topic. You can
extensively
customize your search, and instantly jump to the pages
that
meet your search criteria.
Glen
Barry of Ecological Enterprises conceived and designed the idea
of a limited
search space for the critical issue of climate change.
The
intent is to contribute to making known the seriousness of Climate
Change,
and aid in finding solutions.
"Cumulative access to the
combined
climate change research and advocacy materials on the
Internet
can help policy-makers and citizens acknowledge that climate
change
is for real, and begin organizing policy-responses in the realm
of
energy conservation, alternatives and ending deforestation, " he
said. Environmental organizations are asked to
link this important
resource,
use it for their work, and provide useful additions. The
service
is free.
Ecological
Enterprises, Inc. is a consulting company specializing in
applying
information technologies to conservation and environmental
issues,
and incubating new projects to do so.
It was founded several
years
ago by Glen Barry, and is run by students at the University of
Wisconsin,
Madison. The Climate Ark site
represents research being
carried
out by Mr. Barry at the University of Wisconsin for his PhD.
Climate
Ark is being presented free of charge as a public service of
Ecological
Enterprises, Inc.
