FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MADISON, WI - July 16, 2000 - Just in time for the Bonn climate

conference, Forests.org, Inc. is pleased to unveil the "Climate

Change Links" collection.

This hierarchical directory of several hundred reviewed Internet

sites completes development of the Climate Ark at

http://www.climateark.org/- a unique one-stop gateway to the best

the Internet has to offer on the topic of climate change and

renewable energy.

The Climate Ark is the first of its kind portal and search engine -

integrating and making more accessible the best reviewed climate

change and renewable energy news and information on the Internet.

The web site is dedicated to promoting public policy that addresses

global climate change through reductions in carbon dioxide and other

emissions, energy conservation, renewable energy sources and ending

deforestation.  Climate Ark's search engine makes the entire content

of the linked sites fully searchable - over 100,000 URLs.

The Climate Ark also features extensive links to current climate

change news that are updated several times daily, a massive archive

of non-permanent climate change news (currently approximately 8,500

items over past 2 1/2 years, provided for educational purposes),

opportunities to take action, and a discussion forum.  There is no

comparable site on the Internet.

Glen Barry of Forests.org, Inc. conceived and developed the idea of a

limited and carefully reviewed search space for the critical issue of

climate change.  The intent is to contribute to making known the

seriousness of climate change, and helping to find solutions.

"Cumulative access to the combined climate change scientific and

advocacy resources on the Internet can help policy-makers and

citizens acknowledge that climate change is for real, and begin

organizing policy-responses in the realm of energy conservation,

alternatives and ending deforestation," he said.

Forests.org is a non-profit organization specializing in applying

information technologies to conservation and environmental issues

such as forest and climate protection.  In addition to the Climate

Ark site, Forests.org operates the Forest Conservation Portal at

http://forests.org/.  We urge policy-makers to link and use these

important resources, welcome media queries regarding worldwide forest

and climate policy-making and are actively seeking partnerships.
