Dear Colleagues,
As a subscriber to the Forest Conservation News Today
email list, you
regularly receive reviewed
forest conservation news with commentary by
Forests.org. Our recent surveying of subscribers
indicated that many
of you are not aware of, and/or
and are not using, Forests.org’s
significant web site content
which is meant to complement and provide
additional depth to your email
postings. We want to make sure you are
aware of the other half of Forests.org’s Internet based conservation
advocacy efforts.
During recent months we have greatly expanded our web
content and
improved its underlying
technology. In particular the
Conservation Portal at http://forests.org/ and the
Climate Ark –
Climate Change Portal at http://www.climateark.org/ have
been
substantially reorganized.
And we continue to build new resources. Our
Rainforest Conservation Portal at http://www.pngweb.com/
provides in-
depth coverage as well as
tracking of current news and information for
this country’s very important
rainforests.
And as a colleague, I want to make you aware of a major
new project in
the works – the Eco-Portal is
being revamped as THE source of
environmental sustainability
information. You can take a sneak peek
at this work in progress at
http://www.EnvironmentalSustainability.info/ . This site is not
yet
formally launched, but you will
see this it promises to be the most
substantive environmental portal
on the Internet.
I very much hope that you are availing yourself of these
resources.
Though we continue to struggle financially, and I have
had to take a
full time job to subsidize these
efforts (as a Botanical Information
Systems Specialist in the Department of Botany at the
University of
to grow and innovate until these
and all our movement’s efforts assist
in ushering in the era of
environmental conservation, sustainability
and restoration.
Our recent fund-raising drive was somewhat
successful. But we still
require a number of small
software inputs and other computer equipment
that we cannot currently
afford. If you have not yet given a
yearly
donation, please do so at
http://forests.org/donate/. Your
environmental gift will go so
far and make a real difference.
Below is some additional information on key content
sub-sections on
the
of global ecological
sustainability – and make more use of
Forests.org’s Internet sites.
Best wishes,
