RFP<\/span><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>About<\/h5>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">SFI is pleased to offer a payment-for-practice funding program to advance carbon stewardship activities in the Lake States and Northwest US. Successful applicants will respond to the RFP with a plan for implementing climate-informed forest management practices that maintain or enhance forest carbon storage above and beyond business-as-usual management while balancing ecological function. Applicants should include management practices and approaches that address at least one of the following goals:\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">prioritize identification and management of locations that provide high carbon value across the landscape, <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">enhance forest recovery following disturbance, <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">reduce the losses from natural disturbances including wildfire, or <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">enhance or maintain sequestration capacity through forest alteration.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Funding for this effort is provided by a <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">USDA Forest Service Forest Landowner Support grant and aligns with the goals of the\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/forests.org\/climate-smart-forestry\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">SFI Climate Smart Forestry Initiative<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5>Funding Details<\/h5>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Grants may range up to $300,000 USD per applicant, and t<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">he funds are intended to cover costs to implement carbon stewardship practices and approaches<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Proposed practices and approaches should target a minimum of 300 acres, and all project activities must be completed by June 2029. A detailed narrative, methodology, monitoring plan, and site location of proposed practices is required.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"\"> Please refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/forests.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025-IRA-Carbon-RFP-Data-Sharing-Supplement.pdf\">Data Sharing RFP Supplement<\/a> for more detail.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5>Eligibility<\/h5>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Applicants must represent<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> a large forest landowner (>50,000 acres) actively engaged in managing or sustaining forests and any proposed stewardship practices must be implemented on forestland in one or both of the following US regions: Lake States (MI, MN, and WI) and Northwest (ID, OR, WA, MT, Northern CA). Forestland proposed for treatment must be privately held, government property is not eligible for funding.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5>Application Process and Deadline<\/h5>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We will accept applications through our online submission process until close of business February 27, 2026.
