WASHINGTON<\/strong> \u2013 The gift box for the White House Easter Egg has been made from Sustainable Forestry\u00a0Initiative\u00ae (SFI\u00ae) chain of custody certified paperboard. This is the third consecutive year that SFI products\u00a0have been used for the White House Easter Egg gift box. The National Park Foundation sells the souvenir\u00a0egg to benefit the White House Easter Egg Roll. The souvenir eggs are sold online at\u00a0easter.nationalparks.org or at the White House Historical Association stores in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n

\u201cSFI is thrilled, yet again, to play a role in this wonderful American tradition,\u201d said Kathy Abusow,\u00a0president and CEO of SFI. \u201cWe hope the White House and other government entities increasingly use\u00a0certified products, as it sends a signal when government leaders promote responsible forestry by sourcing\u00a0certified products.\u201d<\/p>\n

The National Park Foundation\u2019s choice to use SFI-certified packaging and to carry FSC-certified wooden\u00a0eggs demonstrates their recognition of multiple forest certification standards. Other governments and\u00a0independent organizations around the world, including the United Nations, the Society of American\u00a0Foresters and the National Association of State Foresters, also appreciate the value of multiple forest\u00a0certification programs.<\/p>\n

With nearly three quarters of all certified forests in North America meeting or recognized by its standard,SFI is pleased the \u00a0National Park Foundation is supporting responsibly managed forests with the Easter Egg.\u00a0SFI\u2019s comprehensive standard backs a strong commitment to responsible forest management and continuous\u00a0improvement on SFI-certified lands across North America. SFI program participants also work withlandowners on uncertified lands to promote responsible forestry, and in doing so deliver environmental,\u00a0social and economic benefits to local communities throughout the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
