\"SupportWASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 The National Park Foundation<\/a>, the official\u00a0charity of America\u2019s national parks, has selected to package the\u00a0official 2014 White House Easter Egg<\/a> in a gift box made from\u00a0paperboard certified to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Standard.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to be involved once again with this annual\u00a0American tradition,\u201d said Kathy Abusow, President and CEO of\u00a0SFI. \u201cBy choosing to package these famous Easter eggs in boxes\u00a0certified to the SFI standard, the National Park Foundation is\u00a0setting an example to others about the importance of selecting products from responsibly managed\u00a0forests.\u201d<\/p>\n

The decision by the National Park Foundation to package the commemorative White House Easter Eggs\u00a0in paperboard sourced from responsibly managed forests highlights the importance of the conservation\u00a0of American forests. The recognition made by the White House in support of sustainably certified forest\u00a0products is not only a great privilege for SFI, but sends a clear message nationwide to invest in our\u00a0forests and forest-based communities.<\/p>\n

Government agencies have demonstrated their support for SFI and responsible forestry in many ways,\u00a0such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture statement noting that \u201csustainability of forest products can\u00a0be verified using any credible third-party rating system, such as Sustainable Forestry Initiative\u2026\u201d and the\u00a0National Association of State Foresters Policy Statement, which indicates that \u201cSFI\u2026 makes positive\u00a0contributions to forest sustainability.\u201d<\/p>\n
