(SFI) announced today an exciting new partnership for future forests. The\u00a0two organizations have established a memorandum of mutual support that promotes forest\u00a0management for the benefit of the nation\u2019s forests and wildlife.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery year, millions of people enjoy recreational opportunities in forests managed to meet SFI\u00a0standards,\u201d said NWTF Chief Conservation Officer Becky Humphries. \u201cIf we hope to achieve the\u00a0conservation goals of the NWTF Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative, partnerships like this\u00a0one with SFI are critical.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The agreement establishes a partnership for cooperation and collaboration in promoting well managed\u00a0forests that provide wildlife habitat, clean water and recreational access. Both\u00a0organizations work to promote responsible forestry practices to improve forest health, biological\u00a0diversity, and recreational opportunities while also supporting conservation, communities and\u00a0family traditions in North America.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis agreement exemplifies SFI\u2019s long-standing commitment to balance environmental, social\u00a0and economic interests to meet the many needs of forests and the communities that rely on them.<\/p>\n<p>Our partnership with the NWTF will advance our shared interest in the forests of the future,\u201d said\u00a0Craig Blair, chair of the SFI board of directors.<\/p>\n<p>SFI and the NWTF agree to recognize, support and promote programs of common interest\u00a0including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SFI Forest Partners Program to increase forest land certification by 10 million acres.<\/li>\n<li>NWTF Save the Habitat.
