Rock stars and world leaders will be among attendees at the 2013 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo<\/a>, which gets underway November 18 in Philadelphia. This year\u2019s keynote is former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Bon Jovi will entertain attendees. \u00a0Established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), Greenbuild brings together industry leaders and experts who are dedicated to sustainable building and provides valuable networking and educational opportunities.<\/p>\n

\"Greenbuild_Canoe_sml\"Sustainable Forestry Initiative\u00ae (SFI\u00ae) will be there, too, and we want YOU to stop by our booth at the Expo! SFI would like to extend a special invitation to \u2018graduates\u2019 of SFI\u2019s Sustainable Building with SFI Certified Wood Continuing Education Unit for architects and builders, which was featured in the June issue of Architectural Record. The continuing education unit teaches about the benefits of using building materials certified to the SFI Standard, and to date, over 1000 people have completed the course. We\u2019d love to meet you and hear about your experience with the CEU and hear your suggestions about how to make it even more informative and beneficial.<\/p>\n

The CEU was developed to help a broader audience of architects and builders better understand the connection between forest certification and green building, SFI encourages USGBC to recognize that the decisions it makes and the actions it takes today will impact the future of our forests, our livelihoods and our collective global well-being. USGBC\u2019s leaders and board members are encouraged to recognize the role of certified wood products and understand that excluding SFI, CSA and ATFS results in the discrimination against two-thirds of the certified forests in the U.S. and Canada. Healthy markets require healthy forests. SFI certification supports the responsible production of wood and paper products, communities, jobs and numerous conservation values that are derived from working forests.<\/p>\n
