PROJECT LEARNING TREE (PLT) CANADA

believes in a society that values and benefits from sustainably managed forests and the great outdoors. PLT Canada works to advance environmental education, forest literacy and career pathways using trees and forests as windows on the world.
Since 2018, PLT Canada has placed youth in over 7,600 Green Jobs and supported over 400 employers with wage matching across the country. Youth gained valuable experience that will help them pursue careers as foresters, wildlife biologists, Indigenous knowledge coordinators, hydrologists, park rangers, and much more. Even more, in a traditionally male-dominated sector, PLT Canada has achieved gender balance in the job placements. PLT Canada provides support to Indigenous youth and others facing employment barriers.
PLT Canada is supported in part by the Government of Canada and is delivered by the strong networks of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and the Canadian Parks Council.

FUNDING FOR GREEN JOBS

Project Learning Tree Canada offers a wage support along with wraparound services to employers hiring youth into forest, conservation and parks jobs. The jobs inspire leadership in forest stewardship, foster a passion for science-based research and education, and help youth gain skills and experience so they can transition successfully into future job markets. Green Jobs are considered positions that contribute positively to increasing sustainability in the forest, conservation and parks sectors. Positions may have a strong outdoor component and have a focus on resource management, conservation, and/or environmental education. Jobs must be a new positions, indicating that the funding is increasing the capacity of the organization to hire more youth and work experience must take place in Canada. Learn more.
