Washington, D.C. and Ottawa, ON—Michael Doss, President and CEO of Graphic Packaging International and Chair of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Board of Directors, is pleased to welcome a new member to the SFI Board of Directors, Mr. Michael Nadler, CEO of Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC).

“SFI is thrilled to have Michael join our board. Throughout his career, Michael has demonstrated great passion, commitment, and leadership in conservation, and we are so pleased to have the opportunity to work with him in support of SFI’s mission to advance sustainability through forest-focused collaboration,” says Kathy Abusow, President and CEO of SFI.

Mr. Michael Nadler has served as CEO of DUC since February 2023, working with government, industry, non-profit organizations, landowners, and Indigenous Peoples to conserve wetlands that are critical to waterfowl, wildfire, and the environment. Mr. Nadler possesses 20 years of executive experience, including over seven years in key senior leadership roles in one of Canada’s largest national conservation organizations, Parks Canada. His new role at DUC leverages his abilities to build strong partnerships that engage and empower others to achieve positive outcomes for the environment, the economy, and communities.

‘‘Over some two decades of work in natural resources management as a regulator, a land manager, and in conservation, I have encountered few organizations with the depth of programming, policy, and perspective that the Sustainable Forestry Initiative has achieved. I’m looking forward to collaborating with my fellow SFI board members and the SFI network and contributing to SFI’s mission’’, says Michael Nadler.

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative Board of Directors sets the organization’s strategic direction and is responsible for overseeing and advancing SFI’s programs, standards, and strategies. The 18-member Board is comprised of three chambers representing environmental, social, and economic sectors equally. SFI Board members include executive-level representatives of conservation organizations, academic institutions, Indigenous Peoples, Black American landowners, public officials, workforce representatives, and the forest products sector. This diversity reflects a variety of interests in the forestry community.

Mr. Nadler was elected to the SFI Board on October 12, 2023.
