Hulett, WY – As part of a broad commitment to the corporate social responsibility, Neiman Enterprises, Inc., a ponderosa pine lumber and wood pellet producer, announced today that it has achieved fiber sourcing certification to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI Inc.) at its three sawmill facilities and pellet plant, Neiman Sawmills, Inc. dba Devils Tower Forest Products, Spearfish Forest Products, Rushmore Forest Products, and Spearfish Pellet Company LLC.

“At Neiman Enterprises, Inc., we have a strong commitment to provide the finest products and services by meeting the needs and exceeding the expectations of our employees, our communities and our customers,” said Jim D. Neiman, Vice President and CEO. “SFI® fiber sourcing certification strengthens our environmental and social responsibilities; while meeting the increased demand for responsibly produced forest products.”

Through its fiber sourcing certification, the independent, non-profit SFI program stands apart from other certification programs by addressing the fact that 90 percent of the world’s forests are not certified. The fiber sourcing requirements require companies procuring fiber to promote responsible forestry on all lands they buy wood from, certified or not. The fiber sourcing requirements include outreach and education to landowners on important issues such as endangered species, reforestation, protecting water quality, and it also requires the use of trained loggers for harvests.

“At a time when just 10 percent of the world’s forests are independently certified, Neiman Enterprises Inc. joins a growing community of companies, landowners, and social and environmental organizations who have demonstrated their environmental commitment and leadership by achieving SFI certification,” said SFI Inc. President and CEO Kathy Abusow.

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) advances sustainability through forest-focused collaborations. We are an independent, nonprofit organization that leverages four interconnected pillars of work: standards, conservation, community, and education. SFI works with the forest sector, conservation groups, academics, researchers, brand owners, resource professionals, landowners, educators, local communities, Indigenous Peoples, and governments. Collaborating with our network, we leverage SFI-certified forests and products as powerful tools to help solve sustainability challenges such as climate action, conservation of biodiversity, education of future generations, and sustainable economic development.
