FULL SFI 2022 STANDARDS AND RULES
SFI announced the SFI 2022 Standards and Rules on Earth Day 2021. These new standards support SFI’s leadership in offering solutions to help address some of the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges. Read the press release announcing the new standards.
These standards and rules address all of SFI’s standards, rules for label use, procedures, and guidance.
The SFI 2022 Forest Management Standard promotes sustainable forestry based on 13 Principles, 17 Objectives, 41 Performance Measures and 114 Indicators. The SFI 2022 Fiber Sourcing Standard promotes responsible forestry based on 13 Principles, 11 Objectives, 29 Performance Measures, and 59 Indicators. These fiber sourcing requirements include measures to broaden the practice of biodiversity, use forestry best management practices to conserve water quality, provide outreach to landowners and utilize the services of forest management and harvesting professionals. The SFI 2022 Chain-of-Custody Standard is an accounting system that tracks forest fiber content through production and manufacturing to the end product. Companies can use chain-of-custody certification to track and communicate how much of their product comes from certified lands, certified fiber sourcing, recycled content, and/or non-certified forest content. The SFI 2022 Certified Sourcing Standard describes the requirements for SFI-certified organizations, both primary producers and secondary producers, in the United States or Canada sourcing SFI Certified Sourcing inputs to make an SFI Certified Sourcing claim.
